MDC (MUTAMBARA) STATEMENT ON THE ELECTION OF THE SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT

THE MDC wishes to congratulate Lovemore Moyo of the (MDC-T) and Nomalanga Khumalo (MDC) for being elected as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Zimbabwe respectively.

The outcome of this election clearly shows that parliamentarians voted across party-lines.

We are aware that Zanu PF parliamentarians, particularly the Sithembiso Nyoni group, were canvassing and voted for Lovemore Moyo. We are more than certain that our MPs voted for our candidate.

We wish the winners well in their new responsibilities.
