Ndlovu show the exit at Sheffield United

SHEFFIELD United appear ready to inflict the final humiliation on Warriors skipper Peter Ndlovu by signing gangly former Highlanders and national team striker Joel Luphahla as his replacement.

Ndlovu was shown the exit door by United at the end of last season before the club terminated his contracxt last week.

He has since been offered a reduced contract by fellow Fist Division club Stoke City but he has rejected that and appears set to turn out for South African champions Kaizer Chiefs.

Luphahla, meanwhile, arrives in the UK later this week for trials with several clubs and New Zimbabwe.com has been told by sources that one of them is Sheffield United.

"It's the ultimate humiliation for Peter who has done a fine job for Sheffield," a source close to the developments said.

Luphahla who starred for Zimbabwe at the Africa Cup of Nations currently plays for Paphos Athletico in Cyprus alongside former Highlanders hitman Zenzo Moyo.

His pace, Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock believes, is suitable for English football which is turning more physical.

Sources say Ndlovu is now almost certain to play for South African premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs who are said to have offered him an attractive contract, far improved from what Stoke and some Chinese clubs were offering.

“I was told that the offer made him was far less than the offers made by Sundowns, Supersport and us (Chiefs). His agent is looking for a best possible deal for the player and who knows ... you might see him in the country this season," Chiefs coach Tedd Dumitru told Kick Off magazine.

“I think he’ll do better playing in the PSL than playing in a second best league somewhere he won’t get any exposure... he’s too good for that.”

Meanwhile New Zimbabwe.com has been told that former Highlanders defender Noel Tafadzwa Kaseke has been offered a contract by a Cyprus club. More as we get it.
