SOUTH African Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to have secured the services of the Zimbabwean captain Peter Ndlovu after talks with Kaizer Chiefs broke down.

Ndlovu held talks with Chiefs on Wednesday night and yesterday Kaizer Chiefs spokesman Putco Mafani told the Daily Mirror newspaper his management had failed to agree with Ndlovu.

“He met with Kaiser Chiefs management but nothing came out of it. They failed to agree on certain issues so the position is that he has not signed for Kaizer Chiefs. I don’t know where he is going after this. I think you can get more details from his manager Winston Makamure,” he said.

The two South African clubs have openly shown their interest to sign on Ndlovu who has been in devastating form for the Warriors since his return from Tunisia.

Although Maka-mure and Ndlovu were said to have flown back to Harare the two could not be reached for comment.

However, it is understood that Ndlovu will this season be playing for the “Brazilians” who have been breathing heavily behind Chiefs in their bid to secure his services.

Sundowns boss, Patrice Motsepe, one of the richest man in South African football is reported to have indicated his willingness to sign Ndlovu and it is against this background that his millions could have tilted the scales in favour of the “Brazilians”.

Ndlovu, whose contract with Sheffield United was terminated two weeks ago after his form dipped upon returning from Tunisia, rejected an offer from fellow first Division side Stoke City who had offered to sign on the Zimbabwean forward.

He immediately flew to South Africa for talks with Chiefs and Sundowns after turning down the offer.

Ndlovu, who started his football career with Highlanders juniors before joining Coventry City in 1991, has played an important role in Zimbabwe’s campaign in the World Cup qualifiers as well as the regional COSAFA Castle Cup tournament.
