AFTER much speculation about Kaizer Chiefs' signing of Zimbabwean international and prolific goalscorer Peter Ndlovu, it came as no surprise when managing director of Chiefs, Kaizer Motuang, omitted Ndlovu's name from the list of six players that he had signed.

From England comes news that the 34-year-old Ndlovu has rejoined his Sheffield United team mates for the pre-season training, raising hope that the Zimbabwean will still be playing English football this year.

Ndlovu put on the transfer market with five other players by manager Neil Warnock who said he believed the biggest name in Zimbabwean football ‘needed a new challenge’. Warnock also needs to clear the huge wage bill before he makes another challenge for promotion to the Premiership when the new season starts next month.

According to the Sheffield United’s website, Ndlovu has rejoined his team mates for the 2004/05 season, and is said to be in good spirits.

There is still a vestige of hope that Ndlovu might just stay with Sheffield but talks with other clubs have not been aborted. Ndlovu still has one year on his contract with the club and remains a Sheffield United player until a buyer comes up.

Ndlovu’s manager, Winston Makamure revealed that a total of seven clubs from four different continents had made the bid for Ndlovu’s signature. New Zimbabwe.com broke the news about offers from Chinese clubs vying for Ndlovu’s signature.
