ZIMBABWE international Peter Ndlovu has joined English Nationwide side, Stoke City, reports emanating from Sotuh Africa said at the weekend.

The news - broken to City Press by his elder brother Adam who joined Black Leopards this week - should put an end to speculation that he was headed for either Kaizer Chiefs or Sundowns.

The elder Ndlovu confirmed his more popular sibling had secured a more lucrative contract with City.

The Leopards' forward also rejected claims that his brother was due to play for Chiefs in yesterday's Vodacom final against AS Vita Club from the DRC.

"Peter is in London as we speak. If he was in the country, I would have been the first to know. I am the first person he contacts whenever he gets here," he said.

Ndlovu was put on transfer by Sheffield United - together with teammates Andy Parkinson and Robert Page.

Manager Neil Wanock told the BBC website about a month ago that there had been several enquiries about the players.

"All three are good players and I'm sure some clubs will want them," he said.

Ndlovu has led Warriors, the Zimbabwe national team, with distinction for some years now. While other overseas-based players usually shun minor competitions such as the Cosafa Castle Cup, Ndlovu has alway availed himself, sometimes flying overnight to fulfill his country's fixtures.

He was Zimbabwe's chief architect in qualifying for their maiden African Cup of Nations' appearance in Tunisia where they exited in the first round.

Chiefs and Sundowns had never committed themselves as to whether they were pursuing the services of the striker.

Many local soccer fans had hoped that the presence of current Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year Tinashe Nengomasha at Naturena - Ndlovu's teammate at internationa level - would be in Amakhosi's favour.

After announcing that there would be a surprise within their line-up in their Vodacom Challenge encounter against TP Mazembe in Mmabatho last week, speculation reached fever pitch that Ndlovu was to play.

Again this week, Chiefs promised a surprise for their meeting with Vita Club in the final of the same tournament at the FNB stadium yesterday.
