The
'unclean' among the 'clean'
at the Vatican
By
Nixon Mao Nyikadzino I remember a story in the Holy Bible whereby if one had leprosy, then that person would not be allowed to interact with the so called clean people. In the event that the unclean person realises that he is in the vicinity of the clean then he would have to shout, ‘unclean, unclean’. Hearing this the clean man would take heed and run away from the unclean. It is shocking that while Mugabe knows that he is unclean, he is not ashamed of himself. He is still determined to go and interact with those he has called all names. It is the same Europe that he has castigated that is hosting Pope John Paul II's funeral. It is the same Europe he has called imperialists and it is the same Europe that brought about Catholicism. He cannot hide behind a finger and say that he has good relations with Italy. Italy is a country in Europe and it lives within the armpit of the European Union which Mugabe does not see eye to eye. When the EU is making decisions on Zimbabwe, Italy has a say. There is a man who is doing all he can to try and mix with those he hates. This should have been the best time for Mugabe to look back and see where he is taking our beloved country to. It is the time when he should have seen the signs on the wall that time is running out for him. He should have taken this opportunity to seek forgiveness from all the Zimbabweans about the way he has deprived them of their dignity. As a Catholic, he must be able to understand the role played by making confessions or testimonials. They redeem him from the sins and take you closer to Jesus Christ. But what does he do? He sneaks into Rome and causes pandemonium on the holy land of the Vatican. I pray that those that shall meet him at the Vatican do take this opportunity to show him that he is unclean and unwelcome. This is the right time for the heads of State to stand by the truth and shame the devil. I even appeal to the advocates of human rights to be at the Vatican and denounce Mugabe. This is the best
time for the MDC voice its concerns. We want to see whether Mugabe respects
the Holy land. We will wait with curiosity to hear what he will say
about the 31st March elections while he is standing on Holy ground.
This will be the best place and time to test his faith and respect for
the Almighty. |
