HEATH Streak has been sacked as captain of Zimbabwe and replaced by youngster Tatenda Taibu.

Streak is alleged to have made a number of demands of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) but those were ignored and the decision taken to dismiss the all-rounder.

In a statement, the ZCU said: "Streak raised a number of issues and demanded that they be met by Monday or else he would resign from all forms of cricket.

"Instead of accepting his demands the ZCU board unanimously accepted his resignation from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.

"Tatenda Taibu becomes the new captain with immediate effect."

Wicketkeeper Taibu is just 20 years old but made his debut back in 2001. He had been Streak's vice captain.
