SOUTHERN African music enthusiasts in the United Kingdom have a treat in store for them this Easter when three mega-stars from South Africa and Zimbabwe jet in for a music feast.

Zimbabwe’s biggest selling artist, the internationally renowned Oliver Mtukudzi once again remains the key attraction and will take centre stage with three shows in London and Milton Keynes.

Mtukudzi will share the stage with South African mbaqanga kings - the Soul Brothers and Freddy Gwala of the Amadamara fame in what promises to be a mouth-watering treat in London, Milton Keynes and Leeds.

Speaking for the promoters, DJ Ezra “Tshisa” Sibanda told us: “Oliver Mtukudzi is still ahead of his game and the thirst for his music looks unquenchable. Prepare for a great Easter.”

The man who has inspired what's known as the "Tuku beat", drawing on both western and African influences, from pop to township jive, rumba to traditional Shona rhythms has attracted an international audience with his music.

Mtukudzi’s shows in the UK have been a huge success, making him one of the few Zimbabwean musicians who have made a realistic fortune from their talents.

He has drawn full houses in London, Leicester, Milton Keynes and once had doors shut in Leeds.

THE DATES FOR THE SHOWS AND VENUES

The award winning artist who has been honoured not only in Zimbabwe but Botswana and South Africa released his record breaking 1998 album Tuku Music in the US and shifted an amazing 35 000 copies.

Soon after the UK performance, Mtukudzi will be off to the United States where he is due to perform at the Somerville theatre in Boston. Such is the demand for his music from Zimbabwean exiles!

The Soul Brothers and reformed jailbird Freddy Gwala will add a South African flavour to the performances. Few shows come as big as this!
