ZIMBABWEAN superstar Oliver Mtukudzi is taking his daughter, Selmor, on his latest tour of the UK as exclusively revealed by New Zimbabwe.com last December.

On his last UK tour, Mtukudzi was backed by his son, Sam, who is also set to return for what is dubbed the "Tuku Family Affair".

Mtukudzi's latest tour falls on the UK bank holiday weekend beginning on Thursday 13 April. Tuku will stage the first show on April 13 in London, followed by Brighton on April 14 and Leicester on Saturday April 15.

A bonus for Tuku fans is an acoustic session to be held in Southend on Sunday, April 16.

Mtukudzi, 52 this year, has been quietly ushering his children into the public spotlight.

Music industry sources have speculated that he may be about to quit live performances, while others see it as an attempt to launch the careers of his children.

New Zimbabwe.com understands that Sam is currently getting an album put together, with the assistance of his dad.

Sam is a student at Prince Edward and has under his belt a couple of performances with his Prince Edward Jazz Band at the Book café and Alliance Francais. He is also credited with arranging the song Ninipa on his father’s last album, Nhava.

Little is known about Selmor, although she has been staging performances around Harare and singing some of her father's songs.

Mtukudzi -- who has recorded 48 original albums -- is also keen to use the UK tour to raise money to finance his Pakare Paye Art Centre project for budding artists.

Mtukudzi's website says the Centre, which is in Norton, is a community facility "which gives talented boys, girls, school leavers and orphans a place where they can spend sometime enhancing what they can do best."

"The Art centre focuses on identifying and developing the arts inclusive of dance, music, drama, poetry, story telling, script writing, filming and so on. It caters for talent scouting, grooming and in helping the young people get organised as business people and equip them with all the tricks needed for one to survive in the music industry," adds Tuku's website.
