Mtukudzi unleashes 50th album on UK summer tour By Showbiz
Reporter Mtukudzi will stage three concerts in Leicester, London and Manchester before jetting off to North America for his annual five-week tour. The UK shows all have early starts and are geared for the family, organisers said. Mtukudzi and his eight-piece backing group, The Black Spirits, kick off their UK tour with a date in Leicester on August 18 before moving to London a day later and then Manchester on Sunday, August 20. Mtukudzi is set to sample his fans some hits from his new album Hezvo, his 50th. The new album is said to include a remix of Tuku's classic hit Neria. The remix is a high-tempo house tune recorded in South Africa and produced by Mzilikazi wa Afrika. A spokesman for Mtukudzi's promoters, Zimtownship, said: "The choice of venues on this tour enables all age groups to attend as under 18's are allowed if accompanied by adults. "The Leicester and Manchester venues are smoke-free environments and we hope the fans will appreciate and find this arrangement convenient to bring their families." The organisers are
stressing that fans should come early to avoid a repeat of last year
when riots broke out at the Leicester show after fans turned up late
and were barred from entering by the police. A day later
(Saturday, August 19) you can catch up with Tuku at the Shepherds Bush
Empire, LONDON. Show starts at 9pm-2am,
