Jail for woman caught with hands in the till
By
Staff Reporter Nency Demanyundo, who arrived in the UK in 2003 and claimed asylum, is prevented from gainful employment by her conditions of entry. However the 33-year-old used papers she took from a friend and successfully applied for work at Wilkinsons store in central Dudley, England, just days after being released from prison for theft. Mark Rees, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court that Demanyundo, who used to live in Wren’s Nest Road, stole £228 in cash from the store as well as duplicating refund transactions and pocketing the extra cash. Demanyundo, now of no fixed address, admitted possessing false identification documents, fraud and two charges of theft. As he sentenced Demanyundo, Recorder Alan Mainds told her prison was the only option. Wilbert Harris
defending said the defendant stole the money because she was “desperate”
to send money back to Zimbabwe for her family. |
