A ZIMBABWEAN man pleaded guilty Friday to attempting to take a gun aboard a plane at Gatwick airport.

Simon Regis Mandiveyi, 37, was arrested Thursday after X-ray checks detected a firearm in his luggage.

Appearing before Crawley Magistrates' Court, Mandiveyi pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous and prohibited article on an aircraft.

He was freed on bail pending a hearing in Crown Court, at a date to be determined.
