Zim man gets 5 years for deadly UK head-on crash By Mduduzi
Mathuthu Unlicenced courier driver Kenneth Siwela was jailed for five years at the Coventry Crown Court on Monday after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. The court heard how hardworking dad of two Kevin Billingham and his stepson, Neil Allen, had their lives cut short in a high-speed smash near Rugby, Warwickshire, in November last year. Siwela, 27, will be due for parole in just over two years, and faces deportation to Zimbabwe on release. His claim for asylum had been rejected, and had it not been for a suspension of forced removals to Zimbabwe by the UK government, he would have been deported. Billingham's wife Sue, blasted: "In court they said the asylum issue was irrelevant but it clearly was because if he hadn't been in the country my family would still be alive. My life is over, and financially it is also very difficult." Billingham, 57, worked as a hospital porter, while his stepson, Neil, was a warehouse worker. When the accident happened, Billingham had just picked Neil up from a nightshift, the court heard. Neil's uncle Pete Hennessy said: "The law is completely bonkers in this case. They actually gave him a lenient sentence because he was injured and pleaded guilty. "But he was working for a courier service with no insurance, no licence and was on the wrong side of the road at 80mph. I am disgusted with the sentence, I am disgusted with the law." Do you have
