Zimbabwean accused of knife murder in UK
By Mduduzi
Mathuthu Godfrey Moyo, 24, of Handsworth, Birmingham, appeared at Stratford Court accused of the murder of Fifi Mwenya in Bidder Street, Canning Town, on Saturday. He was remanded in custody. Police said no motive had been established for the 5am murder outside the Dartmouth Arms pub. However, New Zimbabwe.com has been told that the two were fighting over a Zimbabwean woman. An ambulance crew rushed Mwenya to Newham General Hospital in Plaistow where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest. A police spokeswoman said they believe Mwenya, of Riverdene Road, Ilford, was a single man who lived on his own. She said that prior to being stabbed he had visited the Dartmouth Arms – which is located in a non-residential area among several large businesses – and was drinking there on his own. Det Chief Insp Jim
Condron, from the Specialist Crime Directorate in Barking, is leading
the investigation into the killing. Police said three other men had
been arrested. Two were released while a third was bailed to return
to Ilford Moyo was picked
up on Sunday at a residential address in Birmingham and brought back
to London. |
