KENYA'S flamboyant striker Dennis Oliech put his country on the road to a World Cup and African Nations cup qualification Saturday with an 88th minute goal against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.

His goal two minutes from the final whistle plus a 12th minute goal scored by te ammate MacDonald Mariga took Kenya to a 2-0 victory over the Zimbabweans.

Zimbabwe's Warriors went down 2-0 fighting against the perpetual losers of inter national football, the Harambee Stars, who started their campaign for the World Cup qualifier on a 2-1 loss against Namibia

A revamped Zimbabwe side took the hosts to task in most of the second half after striker Mariga put Kenya ahead with a 12th minute goal in the joint World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Nyayo stadium here.

Oliech slotted in the second goal with just two minutes from the final whistle a nd the victory ensured that the Kenyan side was on course to topping its group depending on the outcome of the Guinea-Namibia match.

The World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, pit the two teams in a battle to lead their group and earn the ultimate ticket to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. - Pana
