Zvobgo lives to fight another day
'The allegations are made by people who have nothing to stand on but lies, lies and lies'

EDDISON Zvobgo’s battle to stay within the ruling Zanu PF was postponed on Monday by at least 15 days because John Nkomo, the party’s chairman was unable to attend.

Zvobgo is facing a plethora of charges – including decampaigning President Mugabe – but he has remained defiant, dismissing the charges as blatant falsehoods and challenged his enemies to confront him face to face.

Zvobgo faces expulsion from Zanu PF if found guilty by the disciplinary committee which is reputed for having convicted all the people who have appeared before it.
These include former party stalwart, Edgar Tekere who was expelled for alleging corruption within the party.

“They reveal no sources, they are bland, and obviously given to you (disciplinary committee) for crafting without regard to whether what is alleged could never be true, given my standing experience and history,” Zvobgo said of the allegations.

In a strong rebuttal of the allegations exclusively published in newzimbabwe.com, the Harvard University-trained lawyer said some of the allegations “inflicted pain and drew blood from my system”.

“The allegations are made by people who have nothing to stand on but lies, lies and lies. All they have is the ferocity with which they shout -"Pamberi ne ZANU, Pamberi na Comrade Mugabe" and nothing more. They were not in the war, they contributed nothing to the struggle but merely eat by claiming to be more loyal to President Mugabe than true vintage revolutionaries.”

Zanu PF secretary for legal affairs Patrick Chinamasa told the state newspaper, The Herald, that a fresh date for the hearing will be set and he (Zvobgo) will be given a seven-day notice.”

Our correspondent in Zimbabwe told us the hearing could now take place mid-August.
