Happy down under ... Carl Joshua Ncube

ZIMBABWEAN Stand Up Comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube, has said his five-city Australian tour opened more opportunities for him, with many invitations to perform in several other countries.

Ncube headlined the African Comedy Festival, with one of Africa's foremost comedians, Basketmouth, from Nigeria.

The comedians held successful shows in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com from Adelaide, Ncube said the Australian tour was an eye opener for him.

"It was a privilege for me to have performed with one of Africa's top comedian, Basketmouth,” he said.

“I have really been inspired, I have grown and I have learnt so much. The turnout was mostly people from West Africa but it was encouraging to see some Zimbabweans at the shows.

"I received so many enquiries to come back for more performances in Australia and also to perform in countries like Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, New Zealand and Perth.”

The comedian said many people who came out to the shows were surprised that Zimbabwe has such a talented entertainer.

Since debuting on the comedy scene in 2011, Ncube's stock continues to rise and his courage and determination to break through the ceiling that has impacted the growth of the comedy industry in the country, has seen him achieving so many feats in a relatively short period in his career.

His quest from the beginning has been to perform in over 30 different cities around the world. His performance in Adelaide, Australia, became the 20th city he has performed in.

In all these cities, Ncube has shared the stage with some of the leading comedians in Loyiso Gola, Goliath and Goliath, Daliso Chaponda among others.

On his return home, Ncube expects to hit the ground running with a set of welcome back shows as he prepares to bring to an end what has been a memorable year for him and his career.

He also revealed that he will also start planning for his European and America comedy tours, slated for next year.
