THOMAS Mapfumo’s long awaited album, Danger Zone will be launched on17 February this month at the Book CAFÉ in Harare.

Mapfumo’s spokesperson, Blessing Vava told Newzimbabwe.com Wednesday that the brand new album, which will be jointly distributed by Metro Studios and Chimurenga Music Company, will be launched at a colourful ceremony where the US–based Mapfumo, affectionately known as Mukanya by his legion of fans, will not attend.

Instead, the dreadlocked musician will address the audience via  Skype, Vava said.

“We will have a live Skype call with mudhara (Mapfumo). He will be talking to the audience about the background of the album,” said Vava.

He said the album’s launch will be followed by a tribute concert in honour of the Chimurenga icon for his role in popularizing Chimurenga music.

Danger Zone is Mapfumo’s first musical project since the release of Exile in 2010.

Some of the songs on the new album include Hatidi Politics, Nhamo Urombo, Chikwereti and Pasi Idandaro.
