AFTER a year off the radar the London Zimfest makes a return with a strong line-up and renewed energy.

Organisers said this year’s event will be held at Studio Spaces number 110 Pennington St, London, a purpose built venue in the heart of London.

Tickets are going for £10.

There will be live stage performance featuring bands and solo artists, DJ’s and an open mic session in the afternoon.

There will also be a chill out area to allow for a much needed break and an opportunity to relax in a chilled out atmosphere.

Headlining this year’s event will be London-based Afro Soul band Farai and the Forest Dawn, a band with a growing following on the London stage fronted by charismatic singer Farai Muvuti.

Joining FFD on the main stage will be a host of talented female artists, featuring Chashe, another London-based Zimbabwean and her band, Singer Songwriter Gemma Griffiths.

The main stage will also feature talented Mbira artist John Falsetto, the versatile Kamikaze Test Pilots, Kazz from the popular duo Bkay and Kazz and special guest Thabani.

Raring to go ... UDK crew

Also expected will be British duo Will McNicol and Luke Selby featuring Guitarist Magazine’s UK Acoustic Guitarist of the Year (2011), Will McNicol.

The duo wowed fans at HIFA and will perform at Zimfest London due to a chance meeting with a Zimfest team member on a flight to Zimbabwe.

This year’s DJ line-up will be headlined by Zimbabwe-born progressive house DJ and producer Alex H who has been making waves on the global house scene, London's most exciting Afrohouse label Aluku Rebels, Afrohouse radio presenter and DJ JP Kairo, Zimbabwe-born London lady DJ Petite.

There will also live PAs by RnB/Hip Hop group UDK, South Africa born house music vocalist Lebo Mdluli with the chill out area being hosted by DJ Archie Flex.

The event will feature children’s activities, traditional Zimbabwean food including a braai and a live screening of South Africa v Samoa and England v Wales in the group stages of the Rugby World cup as the Springboks try to find a way back after a poor start to the campaign.
