GOSPEL music lovers in Matabeleland South will be in for a treat next week as the provincial capital, Gwanda hosts an inaugural national gospel concert.

The show which has been endorsed by government through the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is expected to be graced by renowned South African gospel singer Rebecca Malope.

According to ZTA, which is co-organizing the 26-28 August gospel show together with a local church, Brethren in Christ Church, Gwanda Municipality has given them Pelandaba Stadium as the venue for the event which will run under the theme 'God Is Listening And Waiting For Us To Act'.

“This religious event has a number of downstream benefits to the Gwanda community and it also spurs the development of other sectors like tourism. The event has been endorsed by the government as a national event,” said ZTA in a statement Friday.

Apart from Malope, artists from South Africa scheduled to perform also include Hlengiwe Mhlaba and Lusanda Spiritual Group.

A number of our local gospel artistes who include Mathias Mhere, Charles and Olivia Charamba, Tholakele, Judith and Zimpraise will also perform at the event.
