AFRO-POP legends Mafikizolo are reuniting to record an album due for release in 2011, the group confirmed.
The pair of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza will come out of a two-year hiatus to record a follow-up to their last album,
Six Mabone, released in November 2008.
The pair appeared to grow apart after Nciza recorded a solo album in early 2009. Their public performances together became far and few between and this year, they have not been on stage together.
Kgosinkwe, who released his debut solo album to acclaim, told SABC 1 in an interview last week that the pair was going back to the studio.
“The album will be out early next year,” he said.
A spokesman for Mafikizolo’s record label Kalawa Jazmee said the group owed them “a couple of albums”.
News of the impending album by the award winning group famous for hits such as Sibongile, Kwela, Loot and Nisixoshelani will delight their fans who have not seen them on stage together for a year.
