ZTV Coke on the Beat presenter Tichaona Maruziva, 28, has been dragged to the courts for fatally knocking down a cyclist in April this year.

According to the state, Maruziva was speeding when his vehicle veered off the road and knocked Cynthia Smith who was cycling along a cycle track in Golden Stairs Road in Avondale.

Smith died on the spot and Maruziva stopped his vehicle some distance from the scene of accident.

He pleaded guilty to culpable homicide charge and told magistrate Arnold Maburo that he could not do more than that and was remorseful.

Maruziva said he was still traumatised by the incident adding that there was peace between him and the family of the deceased.

He told court that he assisted with the burial and also took part in the process of reconciliation with the deceased’s family.

Maburo postponed the case to another date so that the state can prepare its response.

Prosecutor Devoted Gwashavanhu Nyagano appeared for the state.
