CHOICE, a Zimbabwean film, gets its first international premiere on Saturday at Leicester’s Starlite Entertainment Centre.
A confirmed success at the Zimbabwean box office, the movie has a world-class tagged premiere.
Filled with rich cinematography and the exciting novelty of the Zimbabwean drama space, the film explores romance and modern day social commitments in a colourful and refreshing way.
The premiere takes place at a time when Zimbabwe’s film industry is booming.
Previews of the movie will kick-start Saturday’s event, followed by a music and entertainment show.
The movie got its first showing at Rainbow Cinemas in Harare last November and ran for several weeks before producers decided to take it to the international market.
Veteran filmmaker Larry Mutasa, who produced the picture, said they were in talks with African TV networks in the UK to show the movie as well as producing it on DVD for worldwide distribution.
Shot in the beautiful Zimbabwean social terrain, the film is about a young married woman, Choice Tembo, played by Rudo Chigogo, who is caught between two worlds. She loves her husband Morrison Tembo (Silvester Hwema) but he is not meeting her conjugal rights satisfactorily. As a result, she finds a sensual touch from a young, handsome man, James Tigere, played by Tinashe Maisva.
She then carefully juggles the two relationships but Morrison later discovers the game.
Choice was conceptualised by Larry Mutasa and written by Mike Zuze and Trevor Chidzodzo. The producer, Larry Mutasa, is an experienced film maker who has been involved with productions such as Studio 263, Neria, Big Time and several short films produced by the Zimbabwe Film Festival Trust (ZIFFT).
The premiere takes place at the Starlite Entertainment Centre (LE1 2AA) on Saturday, May 28. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children. Information call Tom on 0776864040847 (Leicester), Janet on 07737738147(Birmingham) and Bright on 07876745224 (Newcastle Upon Tyne)
