DANCEHALL star Sniper Storm has apologised to his fans after storming the stage and grabbing a mic from Winky D on Saturday night.

The two artists were due to warm the stage for visiting Jamaican star, Mavado, at the Harare International Conference Centre, and Winky D was up first.

Sniper Storm explained: “What people need to understand is that I was supposed to perform just before Mavado came on stage, but because the show started late, the promoters decided to cut the slots for all the artistes.

"However, Winky D - who was using a live band - was the only artist who was given 45 minutes. The rest of the supporting acts were allocated 30 minutes each.

"But what frustrated me was the fact that Winky D delayed his performance and the band did their sound check for at least 30 minutes while everyone was waiting. I was waiting backstage and so was Mavado but after seeing that Winky D wasn't going to stop I decided to handle things my way.”

But the Madhara Madhara star says he has seen the error of his ways.

"I think it was regrettable that I took the microphone from him and I would like to apologise to my fans," Sniper said.

Winky D, who appeared to hold sway with most of the 2,000 fans during the scrap, says he has no interest fighting Sniper.

"We are not going to stoop low and hit back at Sniper,” Winky’s manager Jonathan Banda told the Herald.

“We know Sniper was misguided... More importantly, we realised that we have to continue to uplift the music for youths and not engage in battles. The time for battling is over and whoever thinks that they can battle Winky D should look back and see where we have come from and where we are going.

"To this end, we have decided to forgive Sniper and forget that such a thing ever happened.”
