INTERNATIONAL money transfer agency, MoneyGram, has been unveiled as the sponsor of this year’s Zimbabwe Achievers Awards being held in London in April.

The awards, now in their fourth year, “recognise and honour Zimbabweans who have pushed the limits against all odds” in the United Kingdom.

With MoneyGram now the event’s main sponsors, the awards have been rebranded as the MoneyGram Zimbabwe Achievers Awards.

Conrad Mwanza, the event's founder, said: “We are delighted to welcome MoneyGram as the new headline sponsor of what will become the ‘MoneyGram Zimbabwe Achievers Awards’.

“MoneyGram’s involvement with the ZAA proves its ongoing commitment to engaging and supporting the Zimbabwean community in the UK.”

Mwanza said MoneyGram’s support “helps to strengthen an already growing relationship with the Zimbabwean community.”

Gabi Cross, MoneyGram’s marketing executive, said they were proud to be associated with the awards.

"This event honours Zimbabweans excelling in all walks of life. We are proud to support these accomplishments and the community," Cross told a news conference in London.

“We look forward to the announcement of the nominees and the event.”

Over the last year, Zimbabweans were invited to nominate individuals who excelled in various fields through the ZAA website.

Voting is set to begin soon on the nominees.

This year’s awards ceremony is set for the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London on April 28.
