STUDIO 263 actress Teclar Mazanhi got the boot from Big Brother Africa on Sunday, but her younger sister, Maneta, was kept in the show by viewers.
The Zimbabwean sisters were unlucky to be picked at random by machine under new nomination procedures just hours after they entered the M-Net show a week ago.
They picked nominations along with the Tanzanian representatives Julio and Hilda, who were both sent packing at Sunday’s eviction.
Big Brother this year has two houses: Downville and Upville. Downville houses the normal country representatives while Upville has so far been reserved for seven celebrity housemates including the Zimbabwean singer, Roki.
Big Brother gathered the Dowville housemates in the lounge on Sunday to announce the evictions. Maneta and Teclar were the first to be told to leave the Big Brother House.
There appeared to be little sympathy for the Zimbabwean pair as one housemate muttered: "More food for us.”
Maneta – fearing she had been evicted – made a dramatic beeline for the exit, telling Julio not to touch her as he reached for a hug.
But Maneta’s mood swung from despair to joy and then despair again – first when she was informed she was in fact being promoted to the celebrity house, Upville, after winning the public vote, and then when her sister was ordered off the show which takes place at Sasani Studios in Lyndhurst, Johannesburg.
Teclar, who revealed that she resigned her job to take part in the show, fought back tears as her one-week spell in the house was cut short but was delighted for her younger sister who waltzed off to hug Roki.
She had said after entering the show that if she won the US$300,000 cash prize she would pay for breast enlargement.
Liberia and Sierra Leone's four representatives are nominated for eviction next Sunday.
