ZIMBABABWEAN dancehall stas Jay C, Freeman and Cally C of the ‘Joina City’ fame are primed for their maiden UK tour early next month.
The two gigs in Milton Keynes and Birmingham will also feature the West Midlands-based Caribbean star, Bingimam, as a support act, according to organisers.
Freeman, 24, has become a major force in the music industry in Zimbabwe on the back of a string of hugely-successful club bangers like Summertime, Structure, Ndomira Semukono, Dancehall Doctor, Pressure and the sing along party anthem Joina City.
Jay C, meanwhile, has been the biggest revelation on the Zimbabwean music scene over the last 12 months, helped in no small measure by his monster hit, Ndoita Murder.
The 23-year-old Jay C, real name Joel Chitate, is laying a claim to be one of the future custodians of urban music in Zimbabwe.
The tour of the UK – the Holy Grail for Zimbabwean artists – is a new feather on the rising stars' caps.
Apart from Bingiman, the UK-based Zimbabwe group Boyz Retonaz and rising star Roby Gee are also booked for the two gigs.
Boyz Retonaz last week launched their debut album, Tapinda Tapinda, while Roby Gee is promoting his new single, Mwana Iwe.
