THOMAS Mapfumo arrives in the United Kingdom early Friday at the start of his first European tour in three years.

The Chimurenga star, who lives in Oregon, United States, flew out of New York on Thursday night with members of his Blacks Unlimited band.

In London, they will meet up with his two backing female vocalists and guitarist Zivai Guveya - all based in the United Kingdom.

Mapfumo told New Zimbabwe.com by telephone that he had added a third gig to the tour which begins in London on Friday night.

“Apart from London and Leicester we are performing at an outdoors event near High Wycombe on Sunday. We are expecting a good time with our fans over there,” Mapfumo said.

The tour kicks off at the Oasis Banqueting in London on Friday night and moves to Starlite in Leicester, a day later. On Sunday, Mapfumo will perform at a family fun day at Marlow Rugby Club between Slough and High Wycombe.
