BLOMFONTEIN Celtic coach Clinton Larsen has been impressed by the lanky Dynamos striker Rodrick Mutuma who is on trials with the South African club.
The Celtic boss said Mutuma has been doing well at training since arriving last week but a decision would not be made whether to sign him until next week.
"He has been doing well and is very impressive at training. Things are looking positive but we will only make a final decision about him next week," Larsen told football magazine KickOff.
Mutuma is hopeful of making the grade and his chances appeared to increase this week after Celtic loaned striker Siyabonga Nontshinga to Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Mutuma has one year left on his contract with Dynamos. He was one of the 25 players registered by the club for the African Champions League.
Simba Sithole, who was also registered for the Champions League, is also on trials with South African Premiership side SuperSport.
Should the pair leave the club, it would leave them depleted in attack after Martin Vengesayi – one of the players who had also been registered – failed to agree personal terms.
The Premier League champions have already lost Footballer of the Year Denver Mukamba who joined another South African club Bidvest Wits.
