DYNAMOS will get their US$150,000 subsidy from Mbada Diamonds after all!

The champions won the Mbada Diamonds Cup last season, entitling them to receive the subsidy from the diamond company for their Champions League campaign.

But a contractual problem with their current sponsors BancABC on branding rights had seen the money being withheld – threatening to deny them a major lifeline.

On Wednesday, BancABC announced they had reached agreement with Mbada Diamonds which will see both companies feature their logos on the Dynamos kit. BancABC previously had exclusive rights.

In a joint statement, Mbada and BancABC said: “The development will see De-Mbare being better resourced for its CAF Champions League expedition, which kick starts in Harare this Sunday at Rufaro Stadium against Lesotho Correctional Services.”

BancABC marketing manager Cynthia Chizwina added: “Mbada Diamonds and BancABC agreed as corporates to co-sponsor the team. We are the club sponsors but we cannot shut out others sponsors, thus we had fruitful discussions with Mbada Diamonds.

“This puts the team at a better position as it embarks on the CAF Champions League starting this weekend.”

Mbada Diamonds corporate services executive George Manyaya said: “According to clause 14.2.4 of the Mbada Diamonds Cup contract which was signed by all the clubs, the winning team of the tournament would benefit from this subsidy.

“We have entered an arrangement with Dynamos’ sponsors BancABC to co-brand and we would like to thank them for their professionalism.

“This breakthrough can be attributed to the fact that we have a common agenda which is that of uplifting communities through the development of sport in Zimbabwe. Dynamos will be representing Zimbabwe in the African safari and they need the nation to rally behind them starting this weekend.”

Dynamos play Lesotho Correctional Services on Sunday in the first leg of the African Champions League preliminary round at Rufaro.
