KAISER Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande, has said he is targeting more glory with the South African champions and insisted that, despite last season’s success, the Amakhosi can do even better in the coming campaign.

The Zimbabwean, Chiefs' most improved player for the 2012/13 season, told the club’s website that he was happy to return to the club for pre-session training after the off-season break.

"It (the break) was okay - very good actually - to be home after a wonderful season of winning the double,” he said.

The defensive midfielder, who was last month linked with a possible move to German Bundesliga side Hamburg although Chiefs said they were not aware of any enquiries for his services, said he was ready for the new season with the defending champions.

"I am happy to be back at work. So far everything is going well and we are all looking forward to the challenges of the new season. We want to continue with the momentum from last season,” he said.

“Fitness is not much of a problem because before we left, we received a health and fitness programme to follow during the break. It is just a matter of time before one gets back to full fitness.”

Katsande said the club should target more glory and not rest on their laurels especially now that the rest of the league will put a target on their backs.

"Going into the new season, the achievements of the past season are now history. We want to do well in all competitions including the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout that eluded us last season,” he added.

"We are aware that we will be a team to beat this season. Like last season we would like to encourage the supporters to rally behind us. Our supporters always come in numbers at the stadia and that gives us the edge over our opponents.

The only thing that I wish is not going to happen again at the stadium this coming season is the booing of the players. That is painful especially when you get booed by your own supporters. Having said that I am optimistic we will do well in the new season."
