Highlanders 1-2 Hwange

HIGHLANDERS slumped to a second consecutive home defeat in four days as pressure mounted on Egyptian coach Mohammed Fathy on Wednesday.

The fading Bulawayo giants lost 2-1 to visiting Hwange, just four days after Dynamos did a double over them by winning 1-0 at Barbourfields.

Fathy, a September replacement for Madinda Ndlovu, has picked up just one win in six games and faces Premiership strugglers Underhill at Dulibadzimu on Saturday in a must-win game.

Hwange surged ahead as Farai Vimisayi got to the end of loose ball as Highlanders tried to clear their lines and outpaced Chipo Tsodzo to beat an outdrawn Ariel Sibanda.

Highlanders levelled just before half time as Rahman Kutsanzira finished off after Timothy Sibanda parried Stephen Alimenda’s shot.

The match appeared to be heading for a draw until Tsodzo once again came face-to-face with his nemesis Vimisayi on the left. Vimisayi beat the veteran defender and crossed for Gilbert Zulu whose diving header ensured the coalminers cement their sixth position in the league table, four ahead of Highlanders on seventh.

In Gwanda, Thabani Kamusoko and Dylan Chivandire eased Njube Sundowns’ relegation worries with a two goals in the first half for a 2-1 win over Kiglon.

At Rufaro, Ashley Rambanapasi struck deep into injury time to give CAPS United a 1-0 win over basement club Black Rhinos.
