Dynamos 1-0 FC Platinum

CHAMPIONS Dynamos needed a controversial penalty to edge FC Platinum 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Harare referee Ruzive Ruzive stole the limelight for the wrong reasons after awarding Dynamos a penalty on 85 minutes when Simba Sithole attempted a scissors kick and fell to the ground with no player in contact with him.

However, Ruzive pointed to the spot and Ocean Mushure sent goalkeeper Petros Mhari the wrong way. It was Dynamos' first goal in their previous five matches they have played as their strikers have been firing blanks.

Crucially it was Dynamos' first win over FC Platinum since Lloyd Mutasa was appointed coach of the Zvishavane side.

The win took Dynamos to fifth place on the league table with 13 points.

Asked about the controversial penalty, Pasuwa said: "I don't want to comment about that because I am not a referee. I want to say to the boys well done."

However, his counterpart was left fuming.

"I can't say much on these things as it will be interpreted differently. But we will not go anywhere as a country with officiating like this; it appears these matches are decided off the pitch but I have got youngsters who have got the mental strength," said Mutasa.

Meanwhile Caps United fell 2-0 to How Mine with Wonder Sithole and Kuda Musharu finding the target for the gold miners.

Caps United's Tendai Samanja missed a good opportunity after they had been awarded a penalty. Samanja watched in disbelief, his penalty was served by goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura.
