WHEN the dust settled, Brendon de Jonge added up a 3-over-par 34-39=73 for his score in the third round of the U.S. Open.

The Zimbabwean has a reputation for poor play on the weekend, so it was a developing story when he charged up the leader board with four birdies and two bogeys over his first 11 holes.

He reverted to the BdJ many have grown accustomed to seeing over the years, squaring three bogeys and a double bogey over his final seven holes at Pinehurst No. 2.

He however, remains inside the top 10 entering the finale round at 1-over 211
