Chibuku Cup: DeMbare face red-hot Rhinos

DYNAMOS were drawn against Black Rhinos in the first round of the 2014 edition of the $500 000 Chibuku Super Cup conducted in Harare on Thursday.

Speaking during the draw Maxen Karombo, the Delta marketing executive director pleaded with the Premier Soccer League to protect their investment in football.

“We invested in football in this country and we expect football to promote and protect our brand,” he said.

“I hope this is not the last time we are seeing Chibuku. The PSL should protect this delicate baby.

The first round of the matches is scheduled for the weekend of August 16-17 with the quarter-finals set for September 12-24.

Dynamos manager Richard Chihoro the draw and has warned his charges to be wary of complacency against Black Rhinos.

With the first round kicking off next week, the Harare giants will be meeting Rhinos for the second time inside two weeks after being held 0-0 by the soldiers last Sunday.

“We were always ready for any team and in football you should be geared up for every kind of opponents. We are taking this competition seriously,” Chihoro said.

“Black Rhinos are a good side and we are not looking down upon them. Look at what they did last week when we drew with them.

“They are a real threat and we are taking them seriously. We hope for a good game against them.”

Other traditional giants Highlanders and Caps United were each paired with Shabanie Mine and Chapungu respectively.

In other games, it could be tricky for Caps who meet a stubborn Chapungu side who beat them in Gweru in a PSL game.
