Highlanders 0-1 Chicken Inn

HIGHLANDERS lost further ground in the race to finish in the top four as they dropped to sixth place after going down 1-0 to Chicken Inn at Hartsfield Stadium on Sunday in Bulawayo.

This was Bosso’s fourth league loss in a row after they went down 1-0 to Harare City, 3-1 to ZPC and 4-0 to Caps United. On Wednesday, they travel to Hwange for a midweek fixture.

Interim coach Mark Mathe replaced Kelvin Kaindu, who is now at Triangle, at the start of the month and is yet to win a match and saw Chicken Inn score through George Majika two minutes after the start of the second half.

Mathe has used three goalkeepers in the last three matches-Njabulo Nyoni, Arial Sibanda and on Sunday he fielded Munyaradzi Diya to no avail.

Issues of indiscipline were evident again when Charles Sibanda refused to sit on the team’s bench after being substituted but headed straight to the dressing room, changed into civilian clothes and went on to sit on the terraces.

Sibanda, who is on a one year contract with Bosso, is reported to be eyeing a move to Dynamos and is just running out his contract after being given a written warning in October for indiscipline following the 4-1 loss to the Harare giants in the TM and Pick n Pay Challenge Cup.

At the bottom, Black Rhinos look set for the Northern Region Division One after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hwange at Rimuka on Saturday.

The army side is 14th on the log while Hwange are now on 39 points after dropping one place into fifth following FC Platinum’s victory.

Lincoln Samaraya gave the hosts a 61st minute before former Warriors attacking midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere slid the equalizer under a diving Herbert Rusawo after being fed by Gilbert Zulu.

At Hartsfield, Bantu Rovers joined Chiredzi FC in Division One football after they were thumped 4-1 by Shabanie Mine on Saturday.

Wellington Kamudyariwa, Michael Mageja and double scorer Xolani Ncube were on target for Shabanie Mine while Bantu Rovers got their consolation from Teenage Hadebe in added time.

Kelvin Kaindu joins Triangle

FORMER Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu has been appointed the Castle Premiership side Triangle technical director until the end of the season.

He has a mandate to save Triangle from relegation after which a longer deal is expected to be tabled to him.

Kaindu confirmed on Sunday that he was in Zimbabwe but refused to reveal his whereabouts although Triangle players confirmed that he was introduced to them on Friday.

Triangle were due to play Caps United on Sunday.

Kaindu left Highlanders three weeks ago after three consecutive league and cup defeats, the last which culminated in violence when they lost 3-1 to ZPC Kariba at Hartsfield Stadium on September 28.

For that match, Highlanders have been slapped with a $3000 fine, $500 being suspended for the rest of the season.
