AMBITIOUS ZPC Kariba have started rebuilding a new look squad and moved to reshuffle their technical team after the heroes of the last campaign left for greener pastures.

The Premiership runners up this week roped in  former  Hardbody goalkeepers coach Ndawana Dube as a replacement for  Tembo Chuma who departed the club to join Lowveld side Triangle led by former Highlanders coach Zambian Kelvin Kaindu.

ZPC Kariba made history in their first season the top-flight by finishing in a credible second place after being beaten to the finishing line in a very close race by eventual champions Dynamos on the last day of the league programme

The premiership side also recruited former Lengthens coach Paul “Popo” Chimalizeni who was coach of Northern Region Division One side Mushowani in the last term as team manager- to replace Partson Ndabambi.

Head coach Saul Chaminuka confirmed the new appointments.

“It’s normal that when you play well you attract a lot of attention and as a result you are bound to lose some of your playing personnel and even members of the technical team,” he said.

“But we are starting to rebuild another squad that will compete. We might not be able to do like we did in the last term but the ambition is there.

“We have some players that we are targeting but I cannot reveal them now because negotiations are still going on. So far, we have new members of the technical team that have just joined us.

“We now have Ndawana Dube who has joined us as goalkeepers coach from Mushowani as a replacement for Tembo Chuma. We also have Paul Chimalizeni who comes in as the team manager - a replacement for Partson Ndabambi.”

ZPC Kariba also lost playing personnel including veteran Limited Chikafa - a Soccer Star of the Year finalist last season - to How Mine.

Peter Muzondo and Ephraim Mwinga joined Triangle while goalkeeper Tonderayi Mateyaunga and Obey Mwerahari have moved to Dynamos.

Mwerahari had to buy out his contract so that he could play for the Harare giants while reigning Soccer Star of the Year, Dennis Dauda, had been a target for a number of teams although he is still tied to Katuruturu.
