Caps United have been fined US$1 250 by the Premier Soccer League for causing the abandonment of a league clash against How Mine two weeks ago.

How Mine have been awarded the game on a 3-0 scoreline while Caps face further sanctions for bringing the game football into disrepute.

United players refused to play in protest over outstanding salaries, signing-on fees and winning bonuses, despite having arrived in Bulawayo 24 hours before the match.

Caps claim they had deposited the money into the players’ accounts but the payments had not reflected when they arrived in Bulawayo.

“The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has fined Caps United US $1250 and awarded How Mine FC a score line victory of 3-0 in respect of their abandoned match on the 2nd of April 2015 at Luveve Stadium,” said the PSL in a statement.

“In terms of Order 3 of the PSL Standing Orders, Offences and Fines, ‘Failure to fulfil a Premier Soccer League fixture without a valid reason, three points are awarded to the opposing team on a 3-0 score line.

“Further the defaulting team shall be fined US $1250.”

Caps were at the weekend thrashed 4-0 by Triangle at Gibbo.

Wednesday travel to Mandava to face FC Platinum in the Independence Trophy semi-finals.
