FC Platinum 3-2 Triangle
How Mine 0-1 Dynamos

FC PLATINUM stopped the Triangle juggernaut in a roller coaster Castle Premiership match played at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane on Sunday.

After steamrolling past Whawha 6-0 last Sunday, Triangle arrived at Mandava with their heads high up but found newly crowned Independence Trophy winners Platinum in a no-nonsense mood as they should to reverse last week’s 1-0 loss to Dynamos.

And Platinum got off the blocks in the fourth minute when Zambian international striker Obrey Chirwa powered home from inside the box, but the lead lasted just seven minutes as Lameck Nhamo drew level in the 11th minute.

Given space to play their free flowing, pacy and passing football, Triangle added the second through Nhamo in the 37th minute.

But an own goal from Jimmy Tigere just two minutes after the start of the second half brought Platinum back into the match.

After the equaliser, Platinum coach Norman Mapeza brought in Donald Ngoma for Brian Muzondiwa in the 49th minute and that proved to be the masterstroke.

Ngoma’s first effort on target was in the 53rd minute but the strike was punched back into play by the Triangle goalkeeper before Thabani Kamusoko dragged the rebound wide.

In the 73rd minute, Ngoma came right when he powered home the winner from inside the box and from there, Platinum defended for dear life for the three crucial points that saw them move two places up into 9th place with 13 points.

At Barbourfields, Walter Mukanga’s 54th minute strike was the difference as Dynamos grabbed all the points against How Mine.

The move was started by Masimba Mambare on the right wing and Mukanga found himself at the end of a cross to beat Munyaradzi Diya in goal for How Mine.

Dynamos stayed in the third place with 20 points, the same as second placed Triangle due to an inferior goals difference.

Saturday: Harare City 1-1 Hwange, Flame Lilly 2-0 Buffaloes, Chicken Inn 2-1 Highlanders, Wha Wha 1-2 Kariba

Sunday: Caps United 0-2 Chapungu, FC Platinum 3-2 Triangle, How Mine 0-1 Dynamos
