HIGHLANDERS coach Bongani Mafu was relieved to see his charges pick up a point against FC Platinum on Saturday in the 2-2 draw at Mandava after a tumultuous week.

Platinum drew first blood through Thabani Kamusoko before Obadiah Tarumbwa levelled. Knox Mutizwa then sent Petros Mhari the wrong way from the spot after Kelvin Moyo had been red-carded for a crude foul.

Donald Ngoma then scored with the last kick of the match to salvage a draw for Platinum, who have picked seven points from their last three matches.

But for Bosso, Mafu remained happy after the players refused to train on Wednesday due to a player strike, before returning on Thursday and Friday.

“We had good chances, took the lead but we failed to hold on. We could have won the match, but I am happy that we played good football against a very good side,” Mafu said.

The next fixture is at home against How Mine and Bosso will seek to continue their run as they have picked up four points from the last matches to sit on 18 points, eight behind leaders Chicken Inn. Platinum are a point below on 17.

Chicken Inn maintained their place at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after they thumped Buffaloes 3-0 at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

It was their eighth win of the season which took their tally to 26 points after they also drew two matches and lost two.

Veteran and 2006 Soccer Star of the Year Clemence Matawu scored the opener in the 7th minute before Tafadzwa Kutinyu added the second in the 35th minute.

Then man of the moment Edmore Chirambadare converted from the spot before the breather.

At Lafarge, Dongo Sawmill got their first win after 12 attempts when they edged fellow new boys, Flame Lily, 2-1.
