ZPC Kariba have confirmed Sunday Chidzambwa as their new coach.

Chidzambwa replaces Saul Chaminuka who was fired last month after nine games into the 2013 season.

Rumors had been rife that Chidzambwa would be hired after he was spotted in the company of ZPC Kariba officials last Saturday watching the PSL side’s 1-1 draw with Dynamos at Nyamhunga Stadium.

The veteran coach and the club chiefs however denied that Chidzambwa was headed for the club on that day as junior’s gaffer Oliver Matava led the technical team on an interim basis.

But the club has now confirmed the speculation in an official statement.

“Saul Chaminuka has been relieved of his duty at ZPC Kariba and has been replaced by Sunday Chidzambwa. Oliver Matava will revert to his post of Junior Development Trainer,” part of the statement read.

“The team is currently tenth, but we believe that with the appointment of a new coach, the boys will perform better and meet our target of finishing in the top five.

Chidzambwa inherits a side that has so far this season managed just three wins, six draws and lost four games.

The former Dynamos coach takes over a team that nearly won the league title in their debut PSL season last year in which they lost it on the last day of the campaign.
