Hwange and Warriors striker Evans Rusike joins South African club

Hwange striker Evans Rusike has completed his move to Maritzburg United while his fellow international Liberty Chakoroma has been signed by Free State Stars in the South Africa Absa Premiership.

Rusike, 23, has been at Maritzburg United for the last three weeks and impressed on trials as he was seen as an ideal replacement for Terrence Mandaza, whose contract was not renewed.

While Hwange are understood to have demanded R2 million for the Warriors striker, a deal has seemingly been reached by both clubs, although the final figure could not be obtained.

Farouk Kadodia, the Maritzburg chairman said: “The club-to-club negotiations have now been completed and we have reached an agreement.

“We are now awaiting the completion of negotiations for the player’s personal terms and once that is done then the deal is complete.”

Rusike will also join countryman Khumbulani Banda in KwaZulu-Natal.

“Banda and I know each other well and we have played against each other. It’s great that we are now teammates,” Rusike said.

“I am here to do a job. I am going to make them (the fans) happy."

Meanwhile, Free State Stars, also confirmed the signing of Buffaloes defender Chakoroma after a three week trial.
