PRESSURE has increased on Caps United coach Mark Mathe following Thursday’s 1-1 league draw with visiting Tsholotsho at the National Sports Stadium.

United blew up a chance for three points after Dominic Chungwa thrust them ahead but they allowed Tsholotsho to come back through substitute Tafadzwa Jaravani.

But it was a bad day in office for Mathe who had Caps fans baying for his blood after the match.

The angry supporters laid siege outside the dressing room and trapped Mathe and his players while calling for coach to step down.

Mathe blamed his strikers for fluffing numerous scoring chances, leading to the draw.

“We failed to convert our chances and that coast is in a big way. Our strikers lacked confidence in front of goal,” Mathe said.

“They are paid to score goals but they are not. At times they would try to be too elaborate with the ball and that counted for nothing.

“A goal is a goal and it does not have to be fancy. There is nothing like a bad or good goal. When we go to training we are going to school the strikers thoroughly on how to score goals.”

Caps are seventh on the log as fighting for a top-four finish.
