Taking on league leaders Chicken Inn ... Sunday Chidzambwa

WITH Chicken Inn missing three key players in Saturday’s league match against ZPC Kariba at Luveve Stadium, their opponents Sunday Chidzambwa has refused to be fooled by the players’ absence.

The PSL log leaders would be without suspended captain Danny Phiri as well as defender Lawrence Mhlanga and lanky midfielder Raphael Kutinyu who are with the Young Warriors at the African Games.

While Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas appear worried by the absence of his trio, Chidzambwa feels the leaders are still a strong side capable of upsetting them.

“They are the leaders and whatever situation they find themselves in, they will still be fighting to maintain their lead. It does not matter they are playing with eight or nine men on the pitch,” Chidzambwa said.

“From the way they have played so far, it is clear they are serious on the league title. The fact that they will not be having three key players on Saturday will make them work extra hard to fill in the void of the missing guys.

“It is now up to us to contain the extra effort they will put. We know what we are facing and we hope we will be able do well against them.”

Phiri has been instrumental for Chicken Inn this season in this defensive link-man role, occasionally chipping in with crucial goals while Kutinyu has proved to be a reliable playmaker.

Mhlanga has also been rock solid in defence.

Chicken Inn face a ZPC Kariba side which won their first league match in their last assignment against WhaWha after seven attempts.

Saturday: Harare City v Highlanders, FC Platinum v Dynamos, Flame Lily v Hwange

Sunday: Chicken Inn v ZPC Kariba, Tsholotsho v How Mine, CAPS United v Buffaloes, Dongo Sawmills v Chapungu, WhaWha v Triangle
