PSL leaders Chicken Inn coach, Joey Antipas, feels their Chibuku Super Cup exit was a blessing in disguise, which will allow them to narrow attention on maintaining their league lead.

The Bulawayo outfit are bracing to welcome defending champions Dynamos this weekend for a testing league encounter.

They were thrown out of the Chibuku Super Cup by Chapungu last Saturday, losing 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 regulation time draw.

Having endured travelling from Bulawayo to Triangle and then back to Bulawayo before hitting the road again for another punishing trip to Harare inside four days, Antipas is taking the Chapungu defeat as a positive on their side that will allow them to fully concentrate on the league race.

Antipas’ men are five points clear at the top of the table with 21 points still to play for.

“We were travelling a lot and you could see it was taking its toll on the players. Some looked tired during matches and it was not an ideal situation,” Antipas said.

“We are now out of the Chibuku Cup and we are not too worried about being out. I am sure it now gives us the chance to fully concentrate on league business.

“We no longer have to worry about other competitions now but just the league race. We have an important match against Dynamos coming and our mind is solely on that.

“From then on, we will keep our eyes focused on the league only without minding any other competition.”

Confident ahead of Dynamos showdown ... Joey Antipas

Dynamos are trailing Chicken Inn by seven points at third position on the log.

Antipas and his men go into Saturday’s match high in confidence after beating Dynamos 3-0 in the reverse fixture away at Rufaro Stadium.
