Caps United to beef up squad ahead of new season

CAPS United say they will beef up their squad ahead of the next season and have already identified their targets.

The Green Machine coach Lloyd Chitembwe said Caps United had to fight for big things next season. He said they did not deserve to fight for a top four finish.

Chitembwe, however declined to reveal the club's targets ahead of the upcoming campaign. He also ruled out an overhaul of the team.

"I am very happy with the squad I have. I won’t be making an overhaul but definitely we will make some additions,” said the coach.

“Next season we deserve to be fighting for honours. I don’t think we will be doing justice to the brand not to be fighting for honours. Caps United has a massive history. Fighting for honours is what they deserve.”

Caps on fifth position with 43 points on the league table take on relegated WhaWha in their final game of the season hoping to collect maximum points and end the season on a high note.

Chitembwe said he would want to end the season on a winning note and would approach Wha Wha with respect despite that they are already relegated.

“Our approach will be the same. It’s a very good game. We are looking forward to try and maximise on our performance. We are looking forward to get all three points,” said Chitembwe.

Caps United will be missing the services of star defender Stephen Makatuka who was red carded in the 1-1 draw against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium.

“We will miss him (Makatuka). He is a key player for us but we have been doing well even without some of our key players.

“We did well without Leonard Tsipa when he was injured. Whoever is going to play should put maximum effort,” said the Caps United gaffer.
