ACTING Fifa president, Issa Hayatou, has congratulated new Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Chicken Inn for winning the 2015 title.

“Chicken Inn are the new Zimbabwean champions,” wrote Hayatou on Tuesday.

“It gives me great pleasure to send my heartfelt congratulations to Chicken Inn and their indomitable team on this great achievement, their first ever title.

“This title is the result of everyone involved, and my congratulations go to the players the coach, the entire technical and medical staff and of course the fans.

“On behalf of the world football community, I would like to thank Chicken Inn and your association (ZIFA) for helping to spread the positive message of football,” concluded Hayatou, who is also the Confederation of African Football (Caf) president.

It was Chicken Inn’s first ever league title since promotion into the top flight in 2011 and are still in with a chance of completing a memorable league and cup double as they take on Caps United in the semi-finals of the Easycall Cup this Saturday at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Chicken Inn, who will represent Zimbabwe in the Caf Champions League in 2016, chairman Lifa Ncube expressed how humbled he was by the recognition of his team by FIFA.

“We are very humbled to be recognised by the world governing body FIFA,” said Ncube in an interview with the Association’s official website www.zifa.org.zw .

“We will work tirelessly and grab another championship next year.

“We will ensure that the players and technical team remain motivated so that we win more silverware,” said Ncube.
