WARRIORS chief striker Knowledge Musona bagged a brace for his Belgian club KV Oostende in 4-1 victory over Standard Liege on Sunday.

Franck Berrier had given Oostende a third-minute lead, but Standard equalised through Martin Milec.

But two goals from Musona either side of the break and a Fernando Canesin strike gave Oostende a comfortable three points.

KV Oostende are now five points behind leaders Gent.

With perennial champions league participants Club Brugge and Anderlecht in third and fourth on table with thirty-seven points each, the battle for a slot for the prestigious tournament remains tight.

Should Oostende secure a champions league place, it will give Musona an opportunity to rub shoulders with the some of the big names in European football.

The Zimbabwean international, who has discovered his scoring touch, has also emerged as one of the contenders for the Golden Boot Award with his brace at the weekend taking his goal tally to eight in the campaign.

He is however, behind three other strikers in the Belgian pro league including team mate Gohi Cyriac who have scored more goals than him with Mali’s Diaby Abdoulay of Club Brugge on nine goals.

Four other forwards- Benin’s Frederick Gounongbe who turns out for Westerlo, Algeria’s Sifiane Hanni who plays for Mechelen, Anterlecht’s Stephano Okaka (Italy)and France international Jeremy Perbet who plays for Charleroi have also scored eight goals each.
