ZIMBABWE Football Association (ZIFA) chief executive Henrietta Rushwaya was, at the weekend, quizzed by the association's investigations committee over the Warriors' controversial trip to Malaysia in December last year.

Association insiders say Rushwaya, the central figure in the controversial trip to Asia, was quizzed by the investigations committee led by ZIFA vice president Ndumiso Gumede.

The trip has been mired in controversy following allegations that the Warriors may have been invited by Asia-based betting syndicates.

The committee, which includes board members Eliot Kasu (Finance), Methembe Ndlovu (Development) and Bennedict Moyo (competitions), also interviewed former ZIFA vice president Tendai Madzorera and ZIFA programmes officer, Jonathan Musavengana.

"The investigators also want at least three senior players to give evidence on what exactly transpired during the trip," a source at ZIFA said.

ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube has since made it clear the association wants to get to the bottom of the issue which is being viewed as a serious scandal.

The Warriors’ trip to Asia on 29 December last year was not approved by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).

The SRC, the country’s supreme sports governing body, has demanded an inquiry to establish who sanctioned the trip, which saw Zimbabwe playing Thailand, Syria and a Malaysian club.

The country’s sports associations are supposed get clearance from the SRC for any foreign trip.
