Suspended by Zifa on Tuesday ... Edzai Kasinauyo

ZIFA board member Edzai Kasinauyo was on Tuesday suspended by the association on allegations of attempting to fix the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland later this month.

Reports suggested Tuesday night that Kasinauyo was speaking to Asian betting syndicates in a bid to fix the upcoming match between Zimbabwe's Warriors and Swaziland in Mbambane.

ZIFA CEO Jonathan Mashingaidze confirmed the suspension of Kasinauyo.

Mashingaidze said the ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa would issue a full statement after communicating with the relevant bodies Caf, FIFA and the Zimbabwe government.

Efforts to get comment from Kasinauyo were unsuccessful. It could also not be established whether Kasinauyo had received the suspension letter from ZIFA.

The Warriors share top spot in Group L with Swaziland on four points in the race for the biennial soccer show case to be staged in Gabon.

They travel to Swaziland for the March 25 clash in Mbabane before hosting their opponents at home a week later.

Former Zifa president Cuthbert Dube banned several players and officials over allegations of match fixing in a scandal that came to be known as Asiagate.

Then Zifa C.E.O Henrietta Rushwaya was reported to have engineered the scandal.
